Ducks & Pigs
We raise heritage-breed ducks and pigs on pasture and forest. We use holistic, regenerative grazing practices to ensure that our animals and land are working together in harmony. This careful dance of moving animals on our farm builds soil, sequesters carbon, increases biodiversity, and produces delicious and nutritious animal products for our family and community.
-
DUCK EGGS
Our duck layer flock free-ranges all day around the edges of our gardens and through our pasture. They help reduce garden pests like slugs and snails. In return, we receive delicious duck eggs. Duck eggs are usually 50% larger than chicken eggs. The egg whites are firmer and the yolk’s are richer than chicken eggs. Even though our ducks forage all day, the flock’s diet is supplemented with Certified Organic feed.
-
DUCK MEAT
Our three duck tractors contain up to 15 ducks each and are moved by hand to fresh pasture every day. We supplement their fresh-daily grazing with Certified Organic feed. We harvest and process our ducks on-farm. We currently have Muscovy duck meat for sale. Our duck meat is seasonal and is usually available starting early summer and into late fall. During the 2024 season we will be experimenting with other duck breeds, so duck meat will be limited and varied.
-
HERITAGE PORK
Our heritage pigs graze and forage through our pasture and forest. Their diet is supplemented with milk from Humboldt Creamery. We save local milk from being thrown out and turn it into delicious pork. Our pork is seasonal. We harvest pork in the fall and frozen meat is available through the winter. Our pigs are harvested at Redwood Meat Company, a 30 minute drive from our farm. Our meat is then sent to Sonoma County Meat Company for butcher.
